HISTORY OF BARDAHL - Events Around The World - No-Oil Run
Engine Treatment & The Journey
On the morning of 19 Oct 1999, the test vehicles were treated with Bardahl B1 Engine Treatment and driven for 20 minutes to establish the film of “Polar Attraction” on engine surfaces. Thereafter, the engine oil was then drained from both vehicles, witnessed by personnel of AAM. The oil plug, oil filter and vehicle hood was sealed by AAM’s personnel to ensure that the lubrication system was not tampered with during the two day test. The treated vehicles took off from Johor Bahru, the Southern state of Peninsular Malaysia with AAM personnel on board as passenger.
From Johor Bahru, both vehicles headed north on the North-South Expressway, driven at an average speed of between 90 – 100 kmh with air conditioner running. The engine rpm varied between 2800 – 3000 rpm, depending on road conditions.

The No-Oil-Run team stopped in Alor Setar over night, proceeded to Bukit Kayu Hitam (a town bordering Thailand) on the following morning and return to final destination in Petaling Jaya, in the late afternoon of 20th Oct 1999.
After 1,330 km
On the morning of 21st Oct, the seals on the vehicle hood were broken by AAM’s personnel. The engine was then dismantled under the watchful eyes of AAM Technical officer, Mr Ismail Abu Talib. Various parts were then inspected for evidence of damaged. Amazingly, no evidence of burn marks or wear and tear was detected. Engine components such as the piston and rings, crankshaft and bearings, connecting rod and bearings, camshaft and other moving parts did not show any signs of stress or damages.
This was truly amazing considering the engines had run without engine oil for 1,330 km!
Bardahl is no stranger in such test. Similar demonstration was done in USA, Italy and Argentina, and the results are equally amazing.
In fact, Bardahl had conducted a series of No-Oil-Run in Malaysia to demonstrate the quality of it’s products over the years:-
1983 October: Petaling Jalay-Seremban-Petaling Jaya: 90 km
1985 April: Petaling Jaya-Genting Highlands : 70 km uphill driving
1992 April: Petaling Jaya-Genting Highlands Peteling Jaya- : 140 km
1994 November: Johor Bahru-Bukit Kayu Hitam: 858 km
1999 October: Johor Bahru-Bukit Kayu Hitam-Peteling Jaya: 1,330 km
